Three Questions To Ask Yourself Before You Buy Toys For Your Kids

so you can buy a useful toy.

Some toys are over hyped and others that I quite like, are never advertised. When I see new toys or the kid wants something she saw on TV, I usually ask myself “What can this toy be used for” and “How long will it keep the kid interested.” The last question I
sometimes never ask, cause I never get that far is “Does the toy teach anything or does it build imagination or some other characteristic.”

Dinosaur Toys Are Once Again Roaming Toyshop Shelves And Hiding Under Children's Beds

65 million years ago dinosaurs ruled the world, now they are back

Roboraptor stalking the cat and an apatosaurus watching the goldfish. Tyrannosaurus Rexes running down a triceratops while a pack of velociraptors close in for the kill. These are the dinosaurs of today. Beautifully crafted masterpieces that never grow old just. They just end up discarded and forgotten, to be replaced by a later model.                                                                                                (More)

What Toys Did Caveman Kids Play With To Pass The Time

back in the days, when home was a cave stuck on the face of a cliff.

Kids, babies, cubs, kittens or whatever you like to call the offspring, all have one thing in common. They love to play. So I think we can safely assume that caveman kids played. But with what did they play with.                                                                                                                                       (More)

Toys And Accessories, Toys And Add-ons, When Do You Stop Buying

After buying toys for my kids I am sometimes overwhelmed by how short a time it takes before the latest toy that they always wanted is discarded. Left for dead under the bed or tossed into the wardrobe to be forgotten about. Or sometimes, and these are the times I like, the imagination takes over and the toy is transformed into something else or combined with other toys.    (More)  ############################################################################################

Parents Do You Want Your Children To Be Better Readers?

If your children are having problems at school, it could be because their reading is not up to par. The problem with reading is that it can affect all subjects, not just English. Even in Math you have to be able to read the text to understand what to do.

I know one mother who helped her daughter from the bottom in her class to the top ten in one term.

Let me show you how to give your child a head start with reading and writing.

How to Have A Remarkable Holiday That You Will Never Forget In A long While

The school holidays are finally here and that means: quality time to spend with your kids. Relaxing time hopefully, at the beach or in the park. How about camping where the evergreens reach for the skies, and where occasionally you can see a wild deer nibbling away on the sparse grass that grows in the few places where the sun touches the ground.                                                                                                                      (More)

Ants In The Living Room.

There seems to be no end in what you can buy through the mail. Ants, butterflies, frogs and ladybirds can be delivered to your door in secure packages. Ready to be dropped into your readymade bug habitat brought from your local toyshop or possible also delivered by the mailman.                                                                                                                     (More)

Butterflies In The Bedroom

Kids and nature.

Kids seem to love most things that nature throws at them. And that includes little bugs running around the house and flying in the windows. When I was a kid I loved nature. And butterflies were part of that love. Along with my sisters and brother we caught caterpillars. Put them in a box to watch them hatch into butterflies. Our favorites were the Monarch butterflies as they were the most beautiful.                                                                                                                           (More)

Pet Frogs On The Fridge

Nature in the mail nowadays can bring us many wonderful creatures that the parent’s generation had to go out and find in the backyard. It is simply amazing what the mailman can bring you. The most common are butterflies and ants, but even the more difficult to keep alive in a plastic tube in the mail like frogs and fish are also available. When I was growing up we had the butterflies and the ants and they were wonderful things.                                                                                             (More)

Ladybugs on the window ledge

Of all the insects in the great outdoors, the ladybugs or Ladybirds as they are sometimes called, are possible the most beautiful. When you are outside in the garden, sometimes ladybugs will land on you and crawl on your clothing, and you can see one of the wonders of nature close up. Ladybugs are also beneficial to your garden as they eat aphids.                                                                                                                                                (More)

Best Toy Nominations For 2006 Are Already Out

but will they still be popular at Christmas time

The nominations for best toy for 2006 are already out and what a mixed bunch they are. That is one of the advantages of having the Toy Fair at the beginning of the year. I think the nominations are all to do with advertising more than anything else. The most heavily advertised have more chance of being nominated. That could be because they are probably better known.                           (More)

At Last Announcing The Winner Of The Top Toy for 2005

Wouldn’t you just love to know.

On the market there are millions of toys now, so picking the Top Toy for 2005 would be quite daunting, and I would say a disappointment as everybody has their own favorites. This year the Toy Industry Association (TIA) Top Toy was something that very few industry insiders actually picked.

How did the humble jigsaw puzzle start its long and enduring life.

Jigsaws have been around for a long time, since somewhere in the 1760s when a London mapmaker first cut up one of his maps to teach kids geography. I was walking around the bookshop the other day and there on the wall were the very same jigsaw puzzles. Maps with the countries as pieces. So that teaching idea has survived the test of time.                                                                                                                       (More)

When economic depression took over the world, the humble jigsaw came of age

Around that time someone invented the interlocking piece. Before then, if you sneezed you blew the whole lot away, but now with the interlocking piece you could put them in place and they stayed there.  Those two little inventions, changed the future of jigsaw puzzles forever.                                                                                                                                       (More)
