How To Help Your Children Grow Up In The 21st Century

Kids, kids, kids will be kids, and it’s ours, the parent’s job, to help show them how to survive in today’s world. Now kids these days have a lot of

things we never had, mainly because they weren’t invented when we were kids.

All we had was the good old-fashioned 21 inch TV, now they are 52 inch. Then along came the VCR and the walkman was in there somewhere. So in those days there was not too much competition for time.

Nowadays It Is All Different.

The kids have got mobile phones, MP 3 or 4, email and instant messages, and of cause the computer and the computer rules. Computer games and the Internet take up a lot of time. Time wasted is never regained. But some things stay the same like school and homework, and learning to read and write.

Now The Good Old-fashioned Pencil Is In Direct Competition With The Keyboard

We never had keyboards but we learnt to use them. Now we have to teach our kids how to use a pencil. We embraced modern technology. Now we have to reengineer our kids back to the basics, like using a pen.

Anyway we survived and our parents had traumas. Now it’s our turn to have traumas where our children are at the receiving end.

Kids Nowadays Have Lots More To Deal With Than We Ever Had

Kids are battling against “Big Money” even before they start to make money. “Big Money” is invading the school grounds, like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, as unobtrusively as the humble vending machine. Designed to take your money and turn your beautiful little son or daughter into an overweight blob destined to join the obesity movement.

We as parents have to keep watch and inform our offspring about the dangers of “Big Money” and how its very presence in the school grounds can go unnoticed until it is too late.

“Big Money” Is Not Only In Vending Machines.

It is everywhere where some corporation is out to take your money. It is most noticeable in advertisements, on billboards, magazines, newspapers and TV and it is very persuasive.

Kids have no chance and we parents don’t have much chance either, so we have to be aware and guard against the seduction of “Big Money.”  And that means informing our kids so they will not be caught up in the tangling tentacles of “Big Money”.

  Bumbling Bureaucrats And Political Inertia

Something else we parents have to be aware of and that is the constant bureaucratic bungling that is a part of politics in this vast country. Politicians wanting to leave their mark on immortality by introducing some exceptionally stupid new bill, so they can go down in history as the person who changed the illiteracy rate. (Continued below)

Parents Do You Want Your Children To Be Better Readers?

If your children are having problems at school, it could be because their reading is not up to par. The problem with reading is that it can affect all subjects, not just English. Even in Math you have to be able to read the text to understand what to do.

I know one mother who helped her daughter from the bottom in her class to the top ten in one term.

Let me show you how to give your child a head start with reading and writing.

We can see that now with whole language verse phonics and all the garbage the whole language advocates have come up with to justify a lowering of the literacy rate to what it is today.  Then we have to put up with political inertia as nothing is done to change the situation.

And To top it Off We Have Global Warming And Peak Oil

Just when we thought it was safe to bring up kids we find the world is changing and the changes are not good. Our kids will be growing up in a warmer world and by the sound of it, one without any energy as we have used up most of the cheap oil.

So what is a parent supposed to do!

We parents have to take charge of our children’s lives and do our best to keep our children on the straight and narrow. And this website will show you how.
