Classical education is the education style for classical homeschooling

When designing your classical home schooling teaching method around classical education, you will be predominately using reading and writing as opposed to the modern media of TV, video and computer. Classical

education basically involves reading the classics and learning how to think.

That is why the computer is out and libraries are in as the computer does the thinking for you.

Classical homeschooling is broken down into three parts called trivium a good classical word. For the thinking part most words starting with tri mean three from the Italian language. Also classical education can involve learning a classical language which a lot of people think is a waste of time. But the classical languages are the root languages so if you learn a classical language then it is a lot easier to learn another similar language.

When classical homeschooling from ages around 5 – 10 you will introduce the basics of learning, this is the building block stage or the grammar stage. Here your child is learning the facts like the rules for reading and writing and math and the basics for science. The next stage when the child is a little older is the Logic Stage. As the child matures they start to ask ‘Why’ and this stage is when the child starts to analysis classical literature and the cause and effect of history as well as the logic behind science

The last stage or the high school stage called the ‘Rhetoric Stage’ is where the child builds on what has been learnt in the first two stages. The child now adds his or her own originality to the mix and learns to write and speak from the heart. It is also a time for specializing in whatever subjects the wants to learn.
