**There are many disadvantages to homeschooling but most can be overcome**

In your heart you must ask yourself if home schooling is for you. Then when the disadvantages of sending your children to public school far out weight the disadvantages of homeschooling then you know what to do.

There are a number of important points you must consider before trying homeschooling.

And one of the top ones is peer pressure and it is not the peer pressure

from school. Your whole family, relatives and neighbors could be against you. If they all went through the mainstream school system they could be very vocal in how they feel about what you are doing. So test the waters, drop home schooling into the conversation and see how people react. If your children’s grandparents want to help then that could be an advantage.

Nowadays a lot of people are skeptical about the public school system especially after watching the 20/20 documentary Stupid In America so you might not be up against the proverbial brick wall. American Homeschooling is a lifestyle choice. You will be with your kids all day everyday unless you join up with the homeschooling group in your area.

Now if you are waiting for the holidays to end so you can get some free time. Forget about homeschooling unless you are the working parent.. This is what I consider the hardest disadvantage of homeschooling because there is no time to get away. Also you have to make up for the lost socialization of the school and that means taking your kids to different clubs so they can mix with other kids. The educational teaching side you can overcome by buying into a online school or something similar but there is a cost involved.
