                                                                                                                                    growth model

The growth model is dead but not yet buried

We have been living off the growth model for many, many years and it is so engrained in our lifestyle that we cannot change. But I would say the growth model came to an abrupt end for most of the world, sometime during the Beijing Olympics.

We suddenly went from massive growth to zero growth in a matter of days. But then again there are some countries that passed their growth model apex years ago like Japan. Their massive growth model suddenly came to an abrupt end about 20 years ago and they have been in a recession every since.

So it looks like on the overpopulated planet that there are only two economic models that most countries are following.

It used to be the growth model but now it is the collapse model. Only China is following a different growth model and only time will let us know if it works. Some countries in Africa and the Caribbean are in severe collapse mode and that could happen to the rest of the world when we run out of resources.

There are no other models available that we know how to follow. The sustainability model has been in the background for many years now but we don’t want sustainability we want growth at any cost.

The Roman Empire used the growth model until they were the largest empire the world had ever seen.

But they slowly outgrew themselves by using up all the resources and then they come unglued. And the world spent the next 1500 years just to catch up on what the Romans had. After the Roman Empire collapsed the planet went into the Dark Ages and these were not good times. So we don’t really have much too look forward too.
