homeschooling and socialization One of the biggest perceived problems with homeschooling is socializationA lot of parents, teachers and people
opposed to homeschooling somehow
always seem to bring up the question of homeschooling
and socialization. They think that children cannot grow up properly
unless In the real world there is no experience like the school classroom or for that matter a school except maybe in the military. In the homeschool environment the children are exposed to people of all ages in real life situations. But I will admit, you the parent has to do more for your children in the way of getting them out of the house. And that means your kids have to enroll in clubs, hobby groups or get into a sports team. Kids do need to be around other kids but if the kids have a common interest, like doing martial arts then the socialization time is more beneficial. At school kids have their friends and they have extra curriculum activities. In the home school environment you have to help your children meet other children and find clubs they like so they can meet other children. Socialization can also mean teaching children to do the right thing when out in public. Actually looking around at young kids and teenagers nowadays I keep saying to myself, I hope my child is not that bad. There is a part parents have to play and that is teaching your kids to be socially adaptable. And it doesn’t matter whether your kids go to the local school or are homeschooled it is up to you to prepare them to know what to do in any social environment.
