                                                       Homeschooling and the mainstream school

What do the mainstream schools think of homeschoolers

Homeschooling would possibly be the fastest growing movement in education today and it is estimated to be growing at over 15% a year. This causes problems in the political arena of the mainstream school but

at the moment there doesn’t seem to be any serious threats against homeschooling families. As the situations in our public schools is still deteriorating. And the no child left behind policy is not really designed to help the brightest students get ahead. There is no real incentive to try and drive homeschooling children back to the nearest mainstream school.

Also with the increasing incidence of add and adhd most schools don’t want these kids at their school, so they are very happy for you to homeschool them. The mainstream school boards don’t like you to homeschool your kids but if your kids have problems they would love you to homeschool them. My sister was a teacher’s aid and all she looked after were learning disabled kids, so now the schools way of teaching problem kids is to use a teacher’s aid.

The big problem as I see it, is with homeschooled kids getting better marks in standardized tests. They are showing up the cracks in the mainstream school system and that is what the schools don’t want other parents to find out. As schools have become less safe and incidences of bullying is on the rise it is no wonder parents are looking at homeschooling as an alternative to the mainstream schools, just to keep their kids safe.

Even though mainstream schools are not happy with home schooling families they appreciate it if you would keep your add kid at home and teach him yourself. For more information about homeschooling products and services see our Homeschooling Page.
