Homeschooling gifted children is an option if the public school doesn’t make an effort to bring out the best in your child

Having gifted children brings out a new set of choices for parents. Some parents seem to think that it is too difficult to teach their gifted children because of the intelligence levels. But as a homeschool mom you are

Gifted children are usually into self directed learning

So you just have to get them started and away they go learning by themselves. If you can show your gifted child how to learn then you are effectively turning yourself into a director. You will have to teach the basics like how to read and math, Then your child can transform themselves into a learning machine. 

Even gifted children need to play so let them. 

Bring on the educational toys and let them figure things out for themselves. With some subjects you will have problems so talk to your homeschooling group and see what they can come up with. Alternatively you can hit the Blogs and forums and you will find someone in the same situation as you. If your gifted child excels in one subject do not neglect the rest. 

If they can play musical instruments set them up but also get them to do math and reading. Try and give them a subject they are not very good at so they can get a sort of balance in their lives. When they can read teach them speed reading so they can consume more knowledge. They love to learn so give them the chance, but also get them to play sports and make friends.
