After watching the 20/20 documentary Stupid in America (available free on YouTube) you can see why public schools try their hardest to stop you from home schooling your child. When you take your kids out of the public school system they lose on average $10,000 so they don’t want to see you go. Also I can understand why homeschooling is one of the fastest growing areas in education at around 15% a year. If falls back to the old adage “If you want something done properly you’ve got to do it yourself.’ And that seems very true in education. 

To find out the home schooling law in your area check out the internet for the law then look for the homeschooling association or homeschooling group where you live and talk to somebody. They will fill you in on all the obscure details and guide through the system. 

This way you are already building up your support group and they will help you with any problems that arise. Anyway after you have done everything the home schooling law requires you can start teaching your kids and that is what it is all about.
