                                                                                                  phonics chart

If you are going to teach phonics you will need a good phonics chart

There are two types of phonic charts, one for you the teacher and the other for the student. If you are teaching your child you need a phonics

chart so you can see which phonics are in which word.

If you pronounce the word then you can pronounce the phonic sound.

Phonics are not too difficult as we use them every time we speak, it is just when you teach phonics you need to speak the phonic sound in isolation. This takes a bit of getting used too, but after a few days you will be an expert. It is very easy to get used to. I recommend teaching with a phonic chart as they can give you some direction.

If you are teaching synthetic phonics then you can just work your way through the chart until your child knows all the sounds. Also when teaching synthetic phonics a phonics chart specially designed for children will come in handy. These phonic charts usually have the phonics in words in a type of song or chant.

Check out this phonics charts for your child I think they are very good and you can use them as a song or chant.

When I teach phonics from the chart I like to use Montessori sandpaper letters as the child can trace the phonic sound with the sandpaper letter. This action helps to implant the phonic sound on the child’s mind. Also it helps the child to learn to write as she is tracing the letter the way it should be written.

For some more information about phonics teaching courses that I recommend see our teach reading page.
