                                                                                                                                           The Colony

The Discovery Channel’s “The Colony”

After watching the discovery channel program “The Colony” I was amazed at what they could actually do. Just with a few Solar Panels and a converter they accomplished a lot.

They rebuilt the truck to run on wood gas in ten weeks stuck in that old warehouse surrounded by the meandering mobs.

But I think their greatest invention was the ozone water purifier run off a solar panel. Having clean water is a must and the little water purifier was in-genius. A great time saver, it just ran by itself. I think it showed that knowledge is king. I was so impressed with it that I looked it up on the internet to see if I could buy one but I couldn’t find them anywhere.

These ten people were stuck together and they very soon got it together and started getting things done.

They got it together really fast and I think in reality that would take longer. People would be coming and going trying to find their friends and relatives and just wondering aimlessly on. Trying to come to grips with what had happened and why they survived. But all in all it was a really good program.

I think nature will not be so kind to us by wiping us out in a plague.

I think we are in for a slow steady collapse that will accelerate to total chaos. They had the right idea of getting out of the city and looking for a farm or somewhere to start afresh.

The only part of the program that I think they should have spent more time on was collecting of seeds. They never mentioned anything about seeds, even after they bartered for some fresh vegetables they never said anything about saving the seeds. And they should have raided a library to get some good books on how to survive with very little.

Are our beautiful cities going to crumble beneath our feet?  To find out more check out The Blog and our Future Page.
