vegetable garden beds Your vegetable garden beds can be any size you want You can have as many vegetable garden
beds as you want and whatever size suits you. The
standard size is about 1 meter or 1 yard wide by as long as you want. I
prefer very long beds as I Soil compaction is a problem and that is why we have vegetable garden beds so we can walk around the bed without disturbing the vegetables.Raised vegetable garden beds are ideal as they keep you off the soil. I like longer raised beds that most gardeners because I can use the drip irrigation system and longer vegetable garden beds suit the irrigation system. With smaller beds you can just use one irrigation pipe but have it turned back so it ends where it starts. I prefer two irrigation pipes on each bed. If you are not using irrigation pipes then you can have your vegetable garden beds anyway you like.If you are using a hose to water then you can squirt water anywhere. If you are using a watering can then you need to be able to walk around the beds. When starting out with you vegetable garden don’t start too big. Just one or two beds until you get into the swing off things then add more. Design your vegetable garden beds so they are easy to get around and you can reach over to the middle without walking on the bed. If you are turning your whole back garden into a big home vegetable garden bed try and use special walkways through your garden.
