make a vegetable garden How do you make a vegetable garden? To make a vegetable garden all you have to do is throw a few vegetable gardening seeds on the soil. Water them and keep watering them when they dry out and now stand back and watch them After that is gets more complicated with weeds and pests especially snails and slugs eating your vegetables before you do.But do what I do and keep planting more. If the snails and slugs are a real problem see if you can get a hedgehog. They love eating snails. Or if you want to try chickens they’ll keep your garden nearly pest free as they eat anything that moves and their dropping fertilize the soil. So to make a vegetable garden is easy but you have to keep at it. And that means to keep planting more vegetable seeds every 10 days to two weeks so you will have a steady supply of fresh vegetables. This constant planting somehow keeps the weeds at bay and there is some left for you after the bugs have had their fill.Frogs and toads are good - they keep eating bugs including snails and slugs but you need big toads to eat them. I don’t worry about digging –I’m too old for that – so now I plant root crops like carrots, beetroot and potatoes and they loosen the soil. You don’t really need to dig just plant straight into your lawn. Vegetable plants do need water and that is where drip or trickle irrigation comes in. It is better than carrying around a watering can or hose. You just roll out the irrigation pipes and turn the tap on and forget about it. So to make a vegetable garden is easy but you have to keep at it. Check out our Vegetable Gardening page and see what you think, but now is the time to stop thinking and just throw a few seeds around the house to see what happens.
