Living the future is about surviving peak oil

There are a few problems in the world and they all come together with peak oil. One of the differences between our civilization and past civilizations is population. Mankind’s Achilles’ heel is we are very good at

reproducing ourselves and staying alive. In my view to survive peak oil you need to get away from areas that have too many people.

The reason the world can support as many people as it does is because of oil.

Take away the oil and we have problems. So you do not want to be in an area where there are many people. I’m looking for 10 acres near a small town, close to a river but not on the flood plain, in an area with good rainfall and reasonable winters. And also near a forest because after we run out of oil we will resort back to coal and wood.

The most important thing is near a small community.

Cuba has already survived its mini peak oil and it pulled together because of community. Mankind has survived as a species because of community. We need people so pick a good community even if that means living in a trailer park for a couple of months just to see if it is the right place.

Another alternative is to set up an area to go to when the world starts to disintegrate. That means using natural farming techniques. Pick the area, it might be a holiday spot in the mountains or near a river and just throw seeds around. This way there is already food growing there in a natural state when you need to go there. Don’t set up a garden or anything just let nature take care of itself.

The problem now is when is it going to happen. We don’t know but it is time to move when cities become too dangerous, but you must have enough petrol to get to your lifeboat. To add a comment check out the Blog and see our Peak Oil page for resources that will help you survive.
