When you are teaching reading at home you will be amazed how easy it is Teaching
reading is not rocket science so you can teach
beginner reading at home quite easily. All you need is a roadmap on
how to do it. There are many approaches
to teaching reading but the
The advantages of an internet based program is you can usually leave your children in front of the computer to learn to read. While with other program you have to be there to teach your children at home. I like the Montessori approach to reading as it is very effective, but you have to be the teacher. There is no leaving your kid in front of the computer. The Montessori approach uses sandpaper letters. You make up the word or phonic sound with the sandpaper letters and as your child traces the sandpaper letters she says the word. It’s that simple. It has many advantages but it takes time. I think it is possible the fastest way to learn reading as the sandpaper letters helps plant the word in your child’s mind.

One of the most important parts of teaching reading at home is reading aloud in bed as often as you can. This way your child gets to love books and reading but you should always follow the words you are reading with a pencil or your finger, so you child can see what words make what sound. For more information about reading courses I recommend including a Montessori course see our Teach Reading page.
