                                                                                                 Addicted to computer games

With the popularity of computers and the internet there is a dark side to modern technology in the form of addiction to computer games

Computer games come in all shapes and sizes. Ranging from educational games that teach almost anything from math to foreign languages including Reading to the brain-numbing, finger-flicking, shoot anything that

moves type of thing that is ever so common. In between these two extremes there are some really good strategy games where you can build cities, empires, zoos or what ever you like. There is a restaurant game that if you are planning to open a restaurant you should play the game and win as it is like a real life restaurant.

But as with most things good there is a dark side and the dark side of computer games is addiction. I actually think addiction to computer games is a lot lower than most parents think. There are a number of parents out there who think if their pampered product of the 21st century gets onto a computer they will turn into computer game addicts.

This could be the case but I think it is highly unlikely. In my humble view computer games are a severe waste of time and at most cause problems with homework. How many school kids would leave battling dragons in the 'Kingdom of Zor' to do English homework. What the modern kid of today needs is time management skills so they can plan their time so they can finish their homework, then they can play the computer game, A lot of kids just come home and on goes the computer and since their birth they have gotten what they want. It is not the computer that is the problem it is the parents.

For a computer game that can be used to teach reading see here.
